The Parents and Citizens Association at ACPS is a very active and involved part of the school community. The P & C seeks to help improve the learning environment through financial and practical assistance. Fundraising takes place throughout the year in a variety of forms, and social functions are planned regularly - watch for announcements in The Blue and White or on this website. Fundraising enables the P & C to commit upwards of $20 000 each year to valuable projects around the school.
P & C Office-Bearers 2008 P & C meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month during school terms. Meetings commence at 7.30pm in the school library - enter via the library's external door on the northeast corner of the building. Meetings usually run for about 60-90 minutes in a friendly informal atmosphere. All parents are encouraged to come along and have a say. Parents new to ACPS are especially invited to P & C meetings and functions as a way of meeting other parents. The AGM is held at the March meeting. Meeting dates for 2009: Each term the P & C holds a Working Bee in the school grounds to attend to minor maintenance and beautification. This work helps to keep the school looking its best and the gardens tidy. Most tasks don't require any special skills or fancy tools. The working bee is another good chance to meet other parents. The P & C operates the school Clothing Pool which is open on Fridays during term, 8.45- 9.30am. The clothing pool is located off the foyer of the auditorium. There is a wide range of secondhand items and some new items such as sport shorts ($11), sport shirts and dress material. Donations of secondhand uniforms are welcome and can be delivered to the clothing pool when open or left at the school office at other times. School Backpacks are available for $22 - tough, durable and long-wearing in royal blue with the school logo. New stock: cloth school badges suitable for hats and shirts, iron-on, $3. As a school community we seek to work together to build a culture that demonstrates care, ensures security and provides opportunities for individual contribution, success, recognition and enjoyment.
